Introduction
The Pink Moon’s serene radiance blessed the night sky last night in Lahore, April 2025.
I personally witnessed its beauty around approximately 6.45pm when I was on my way back home from my maternal family home.
This moon not only had stunning pink hues but was also a full micromoon, and not just an ordinary full moon.
What's a Micromoon?
A Micromoon is somewhat smaller, as it’s at the farthest point possible from Earth.
However, what it lacks in size, its majestic hues of pink definitely made up for.
The Pink Moon, though its name suggests, is not literally pink but more like shades of a gentle blush and, as I mentioned above, pink hues.
The name Pink Moon actually comes from the wild phlox blooms that appear around this time of the month. Having said that, the Pink Moon and the phlox blooms have nothing in connection, as the pink hues on the moon appear due to atmospheric conditions.
Smaller Yet amazing
Unlike the more spectacular Supermoon, a Micromoon like the Pink Moon is around 14% smaller in size, yet nevertheless enchants skywatchers and night sky enthusiasts. I myself was mesmerised by its absolute beauty and wanted to gaze at it for a longer while but unfortunately I was driving back home at peak hours, and that too in Lahore.
