A heart to heart and a cup of coffee
Sara was sitting alone in the lounge reading when Alina entered the room with two cups of hot coffee.
“Thank you, beta.”
Both Mama and her daughter sat comfortably sipping on their coffee when Sara noticed that Alina was quieter than usual.
Sara softly asked, “Alina beta, what’s the matter?”
Alina shuffled but remained seated and then spoke.
“Mama, I feel empty. I don’t know what I want from this life. I feel aimless.”
Sara sighed, and Alina carried on speaking.
“Am I worthy enough for you or anyone? I feel lost, Mama. When will I figure out life? everyone else seems to have it all sorted.”
Mama took her daughter’s hand and held it against her chest and then went on to say
“You know, Alina, I too went through this phase when I was your age.”
Alina looked at her mama with wide eyes and shook her head slightly.
“Life isn’t about having everything figured out. Life is learning, growing, and making lots and lots of mistakes, which teach us lessons and make us who we are. Even to this day, I’m learning.
“She smiled softly at Alina and placed her hands upon her knees, still holding onto Alina’s hand.
Alina’s eyes brightened, and she gave a slight smile.
“So, it’s okay if we don’t have all the answers, mama?”
Sara nodded. “Absolutely! just remember to be kind to yourself. Every step you take is part of your journey.”
The moral – Life isn’t about perfection but growth. Embrace each moment and be gentle with yourself.
