An Indian boy named Arjun from a small town would love to have his own beautiful yard one day. An old farmer once gave him bamboo seeds and said, “Plant these, water them every day, and wait.” When they grow up, you won’t believe how big they are. He put the seeds and made sure to water them every day because he was excited. There was still nothing above the ground after days, weeks, and months.
“Why waste your time on dead seeds?” his friends teased him. Change what you have in there! Even his own family began to doubt him. But Arjun thought about what the old gardener had said and slowly watered the dirt every day.
It’s been five years. No matter what, not a single sprout showed up. Even though he was sad, Arjun wouldn’t give up. In the sixth year, little green shoots came up from the ground. In just a few weeks, they grew to be as tall as trees, making them strong and unbending.
“The bamboo was growing all the time,” the old gardener said. Its roots were going deep to build a strong base. You wouldn’t have realized its true strength if you hadn’t been patient..
This story shows that being patient is important for building strong bases. There is still work going on, even if you can’t see it. Doing great things takes time.
