Review: Missing You (2025) - A Series That Missed the Mark (or Did I?)
Netflix’s limited series Missing You had all the ingredients for a compelling mystery:
a clueless protagonist, a town steeped in secrets, and a suspicious dog breeder doing…something.
What exactly?
I wish I could tell you. Maybe I wasn’t watching close enough, but his entire subplot felt like a puzzle piece from another box. Was there a deeper meaning to his actions? Was he even necessary? Your guess is as good as mine.
The biggest frustration, however, was Kat. Poor, sweet Kat, who was apparently the only one in town not looped into the drama. It felt like everyone else was part of a secret society dedicated to hiding the truth from her. Watching her stumble cluelessly through her own life while others gave knowing glances got old quickly.
By the time she pieced together that:
Josh – charming/sketchy or whatever he was, was her dad’s murderer, I was already distracted trying to figure out how the dog breeder fit into all of this.
And that ending?
Kat deciding to stay after everything she learned was capped with a finger twiddling moment that was probably meant to signify closure. Or forgiveness? Or maybe Netflix teasing a sequel? Honestly, it just left me baffled!
Despite being a limited series, Missing You dragged at times. What should’ve been a tightly paced mystery often felt like it was stuck in second gear, spinning its wheels with repetitive scenes and unresolved subplots (seriously, what was the deal with that dog breeder?).
Other viewers?
Other viewers seem just as torn. Some praised it as a “gripping psychological drama” with stellar performances, while others took to social media to call it “a slow, confusing ride that even die-hard mystery fans struggled to follow.”
Final verdict?
Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention, but Missing You felt like a series that demanded too much from its audience without offering enough clarity in return. Watch it if you enjoy piecing together unresolved mysteries, but don’t be surprised if you’re still scratching your head when the credits roll.
