Shah Mehmood Qureshi, a veteran former foreign minister and vice chairman of the PTI who is currently in jail, has said that a war between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India would be “mutual suicide.” Qureshi has stressed the value of moderation.
In a statement from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, Qureshi said India’s refusal to accept Pakistan’s suggestion for an impartial, open, credible, global investigation constituted an endorsement of a false flag operation.
He claimed India was violating international law by suspending the Indus Water Treaty. According to the PTI leader, the Indian government’s unilateral moves on August 5, 2019, were a direct breach of the Simla Agreement.
By refusing to implement the United Nations Security Council resolutions concerning Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the former foreign minister claimed that New Delhi was jeopardizing regional stability.
