How to use laziness to your advantage
You must be thinking that isn’t laziness the opposite of productivity? Well yes. If you’re being lazy, you are often procrastinating. It might sound counterintuitive, but laziness is much closer to productivity than we tend to think. In fact, you can take it as the other side of the productivity coin!
Laziness is not a personality trait; our brain is wired to conserve energy for survival, and so we will always choose a path of least resistance. So today at Spheremedium, I’ll share how to use laziness to your advantage! Yes. Sometimes being lazy is beneficial. However, it counts only if it’s temporary.
Laziness helps you avoid burnout
People are always on the go, working really hard, trying to achieve their best, and consciously or subconsciously, we all tend to burn out. Being laid back some time can help recharge and help us to come back stronger and better. Your body needs time to recover too. Taking a break and allowing yourself to take a break and be lazy will benefit you with high energy and accurate focus. Being burned out is like one of the worst things that can happen to someone who’s trying to do their best. It demotivates you mentally; it puts you down, so get lazy for a bit and prevent burnout.
Laziness sparks your creativity
Have you noticed sometimes when you’re trying to bring about the best ideas your mind does not work and you get a block, you do not get creative ideas, and you also get stressed at the same time. But when you are lazy, not really thinking about generating an idea, you so happen to get one of the best ideas.
Socrates spent most of his time sitting around thinking, which back then was probably seen as being lazy. Newton discovered gravity while just chilling under the tree. If they were in today’s hustle culture, they’d be probably judged for their lack of productivity, but their laid-back thinking session gave birth to some of the biggest breakthroughs ever.
So being lazy sometimes is a good thing because it helps to spark your creativity.
Laziness helps you prioritize
Laziness is about finding a smarter approach. When you are being lazy, you tend to only do what is very important and urgent at hand and second categorize those projects or things that are not so important or not so urgent; henceforth, you are prioritizing. So laziness is not about doing nothing; it’s about doing less while achieving more; it’s about working smarter, not harder.
Laziness is not a personality trait; our brain is wired to conserve energy for survival, and so we will always choose a path of least resistance.
Laziness allows you to relax
Laziness is a type of self-care as well because it allows you to relax, de-stress, and unwind, and that’s a good thing.
Laziness boosts your motivation
Have you noticed that our mind tends to wander when being lazy? You go around watching six stories on your mobile, observe things, and come back with a positive mindset, and it gives you more motivational vibes to start again.
Laziness helps you become more efficient
Laziness is the mother of efficiency. It makes you think about not repeating tasks you don’t like and focus on things you really like and are pretty good at, so a lazy person wants to find shortcuts. He wants to find ways of being more effective and more efficient with a smaller effort. And by taking short-term breaks during work, one can refresh and calm the mind, and their short-term focus increases enormously.
laziness helps you think clearly.
When you’re feeling lazy, your mind is pretty blank. It gives you a better perspective to make better decisions and helps you think very clearly, so it’s kind of like meditation. Meditation does not mean that you need to focus on just the object; meditation actually means that you need to be present at that moment. It helps you clear your mind, and henceforth you’ll be able to make clearer and better decisions. So next time you’re feeling lazy, don’t be guilty and just enjoy that time.
