Four disastrous effects of sugar on skin

What is sugar and why is it so unhealthy for skin? Sugar is a simple carbohydrate that provides our body energy, and because it’s a simple carbohydrate, sugar is absorbed by our body very easily. The majority of the time sugar is found in carbohydrate-rich foods, for example, noodles, rice, bread, and pasta.

Now, ever since the Industrial Revolution in the 1900s, access to food has gotten much easier, and a lot of people nowadays do not require so much energy because we have transitioned from a labor-intensive industry to a more office-based industry. However, the amount of sugar that the world has gotten much easier, and a lot of people nowadays do not require so much energy because we have transitioned from a labor-intensive industry to a more office-based industry.

However, the amount of sugar that the world has been taking is increasing year by year, so according to the World Health Organization, the recommended dose of sugar taken per day is just 11 grams, which is roughly about two and three quarters teaspoons, and it’s recommended not to exceed 25 milligrams, which is roughly about six teaspoons.

However, the country that tops the consumption of sugar is the United States of America, whereby on average they consume 125 grams of sugar daily. Which is five times the limit recommended by who .

For research point of you, I was looking for positive and negative effects of sugar on skin, but fortunately there are no reasons that show any sort of positive effect of sugar on skin.

So here are four disastrous effects of sugar on skin.

NUMBERING 1

Premature Aging

Sugar causes premature aging; that’s a process called the advanced glycation end product, or AG in short, and this is what happens when sugar binds to the cells in our body; it creates a form of protein that has been found to degrade collagen and elastin in our skin.

It means the more sugar we take, the quicker the collagen and elastin degrade in our skin, making us to have thinner skin, and at the same time wrinkles appear. Keep in mind that this not only has an effect on skin but travels all throughout the body as well, and the advanced glycation end product has been linked with degenerative diseases like renal failure, Alzheimer’s, and even Parkinson’s.

NUMBERING 2

Acne

The second disastrous effect of sugar on skin is that it increases acne. The majority of the observational studies done show that there is a direct link between acne and sugar intake. This is because an increase in sugar intake will actually activate the bacteria on your skin, leading to more acne. So if you’re suffering from acne, it’s better to cut down on the amount of sugar that you take on a daily basis.

NUMBERING 3

Worsens Psoriasis

The third disastrous effect of sugar on skin is that it worsens psoriasis. Sugar is actually one of the triggers of getting a psoriatic flare-up. A study was done that showed that 14 of all respondents with psoriasis claim that by taking a lot of sugar, their psoriasis actually gets extra itchy and flares up.

Now this is linked to the advanced glycation, which I’ve mentioned earlier. So if you want to reduce the amount of psoriasis that you have, you need to reduce the amount of sugar that you’re taking.

NUMBERING 4

Rosacea

The fourth disastrous effect of sugar on skin is that it worsens rosacea. Now it’s been found that in people with rosacea, they’re very insulin resistant. Insulin is important to bind to the glucose so that our body can then process the glucose in blood; however, with a high insulin resistance, it means that the sugar is unable to be used by your blood as energy, and then there’s an accumulation of glucose in your blood.

So in rosacea, they have high insulin resistance, which makes for high sugar levels in their blood, leading to a flare-up of rosacea. So to those suffering from rosacea, you need to reduce the amount of sugar that you’re taking every day.

Tip on how to reduce the amount of sugar

sugar that you’re taking on a daily basis. Research has shown that most additional sugar intake is not from your food but from sugary drinks. That means you should always cut down on your carbonated drinks, your energy drinks, or even drinks, whether they add additional condensed milk or sugar in them, and just by reducing the amount of sugary drinks that you take on a daily basis, you can actually reduce the amount of sugar that you take every day by 20 to 30 percent.
